Action Film Autopsy #21 Supple Mental!

I think the first time I met Michael Jai White in person was at ActionFest 2011 in Asheville, North Carolina — where I hosted a sneak peek of Films of Fury: The Kung Fu Movie Movie, and he received the inaugural “Man of Action” Award.

But one of my fondest memories (besides some awesome bbq) was sharing a panel on film fight choreography with Michael, Larnell Stoval (far left), and sword master Richard Ryan (far right).

But the first time I spoke with Michael was in a phone interview several years before — for, as I recall, Inside Kung Fu magazine, where I was film columnist and entertainment editor for decades.

Since then we keep seeing each other at two of northeast America’s best action events —

Action Martial Arts Magazine’s Hall of Honors (where I recorded this talk) …

and

The Urban Action Showcase (where we’re scheduled for a possible rematch November 11th).

Taimak (The Last Dragon) far left, Vincent Lyn (Operation Condor), far right, Demetrius Angelo (UAS big boss) next to him.

And the up-coming movie he mentioned:

Looks like a quintuple threat if you ask me … but Michael is a quintuple threat (actor, writer, director, producer, and martial artist) all by himself!
